The Role

As a Principal Consultant (Environment) you will be part of the team that delivers high quality, environmental advice to our customers with the aim of minimising or eliminating environmental damage.

Engaging with Senior Management to inspire change at a strategic level, you will support our clients on environmental compliance, ensuring our customers understand and address a variety of environmental issues and comply with environmental regulations. 

To achieve success in the role you will need to work effectively, have good communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work with complex software to solve bespoke challenges for our customers.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

  • Research, analyse and interpret data using internal software packages
  • Write reports and share finding with multi-disciplinary colleagues and clients
  • Advise Senior Management teams of research findings and improvements to reduce environmental damage
  • Continuously stay ahead of new environmental developments and legislation that may impact our growing number of customers
  • Support our customers to achieve and maintain relevant ISO certifications (e.g. ISO14001)
  • Lead customer workshops as required
  • Research new technologies and methods to influence the continual improvement of our service provision
  • Provide support on internal training of the wider team
  • Contribute to the creation and review of technical briefings and external communication
  • Liaise with and attend customer/stakeholder meetings and contribute to and independently deliver presentations to all levels of seniority
  • Manage your projects, ensuring work is effectively delivered on time, in full, within budget in a way that wows the customer
  • Act as a catalyst for change and support our ambition to support 1 in 100 people to go Net Zero, by being curious, focused and innovative

Experience & Qualifications required

  • Degree or equivalent in related subject or adequate sector experience in a carbon/sustainability related role
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of the environmental interactions for organisations and have the ability to link to the wider Energise work in Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG protocols and other relevant standards
  • Knowledge of strategic impact of ISO14001/ESG/Sustainability on successful businesses
  • Strategic management of resource efficiency (inc but not limited to waste, water, materials and the improvement of business operations and strategic decision making)
  • Strategic overview of biodiversity impacts on business activities (direct and indirect)
  • Engagement and leadership upskilling on E matters across business organisations
  • Circular Economy overview
  • Working knowledge of carbon footprints and net zero
  • Ability to deliver carbon/climate literacy to board level
  • Competent at Excel with great numeracy skills
  • Ability to see the big picture and take ownership
  • Excellent communication skills that allow you to build relationships that educate, engage and inspire people to take action (confident presentation skills)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing requirements

  • Salary of £46,800 – £55,000 (dependent on experience)
